Edit TIMES PAST, Roy's garden, Cathcart, 1971
Glaswegians have always been a generous bunch, and this picture is a direct result of a piece of Glaswegian good-will.
Taken in September 1971, it is Roy's Garden on Cartvale Road, Cathcart.
The garden was given the name in memory of the popular local Reverend Roy Johnston who died five years before the photo was taken.
Reverend Johnston, who owned a nearby newsagents, initiated the garden for the benefit of the district's senior citizens.
After his death the tree lovers society developed the garden with the help of donations from the local congregation.
